Exploring Video Game History through Posters!

Playing With Posters is an educational game arts exhibit created by The Game Foundation Charity, with Shining Spark Entertainment as a Third-Party Fundraiser. Playing With Posters chronicles the rich and diverse history of video games across Canada and around the world through our collection of their dynamic Poster Art through the ages. This presents a new way to experience and learn about video game history to celebrate this engaging interactive medium.

Playing With Posters currently takes the form of a Pop-Up exhibits at select events. Based on The Game Foundation’s extensive poster collection consisting of hundreds of original preserved prints and posters of games by local studios, we curate our showcase selection based on the event and venue to make every show unique. Each poster also features an information card beside it to educate the public on the game, its poster’s details, and its place in video game history from 1950 - 2025.

Playing With Posters made its first appearance at the XP Game Summit from June 12 - 13, 2025, a games business conference where our 18 poster selections were appreciated by over 700 attendants. We then appeared at the Get On My Level (GOML) eSports Tournament from July 4 - 6, 2025 with nearly double the posters and exhibit space where our 35 posters were widely beloved by nearly 3000 game competitors and spectators alike at one of Canada’s biggest eSports events.

We would like to take Playing With Posters to even more spaces but we need YOU and your donations and sponsorships to make that happen. All Donations benefit The Game Foundation Charity to support expanding this exhibit and their expanding efforts for promoting Game Arts Preservation. To donate, please go to bit.ly/tgf-donate.
